Nelson Women's Cricket Club
Welcome to the home of the Nelson Women's Cricket Club!
The 2025/26 summer will mark a historic moment in Nelson cricket, with the formation of the first ever women and girls club! Designed to help promote the participation and enjoyment of cricket by women and girls of all ages, experience, and abilities, this Club will be an integral part of Nelson Cricket's 2024-31 Women & Girls Strategy.
While this Club will sit under Nelson Cricket's banner as it gets off the ground, it will be run at arms length and does not directly form any part of the development pathway. It is simply provided as another option for women and girls to join a Club where they know they will be playing alongside other women and girls. Ensuring a safe, inclusive, fun environment for all involved.
The Nelson Women's Cricket Club is intended to supplement what is currently on offer by Clubs within the Nelson region, ensuring that there is an offering suitable for all possible participants. If someone is already in an all female team, or if they enjoy playing in a boys team, they are encouraged to continue in that space. The formation of this Club simply provides more opportunities which will help attract new (and returning players), develop female cricket, and support the retention of players.
Who can be part of this club?
The Nelson Women's Cricket Club is open to all females - regardless of age, experience, or ability. Registration for the Club is open now, so players can register using the link below for senior (adults or experienced cricketers), youth (college age), and junior (primary/intermediate).
Once registrations start flowing in, more information can be shared with individuals about potential teams, grades, and training evenings. With the goal to ensure that everyone can be placed in a team that is age and skill appropriate, and maximises their enjoyment.

Key Information:
Costs: Final costs are to be confirmed, and this area will be updated as soon as this is available. It is expected these will be in line with most Clubs.
Base: As a starting point, the Nelson Women's Cricket Club will be based out of Saxton Field. However, as player registrations are received and teams are formed, we will review this on a team by team basis depending on where players a living.
